Parenting a child with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, can be challenging. It requires, first and foremost, patience, as a child with ADHD is usually in a state of constant motion and has a hard time listening to instructions. Here are a few tips for parents to improve their relationship with their ADHD child, and help that child reach his or her full potential.

First, you must understand that your child has a neurobiological and behavioral disorder. ADHD is an actual physical and psychological disorder that is just as frustrating for the child as it is for adults interacting with the child. Like many special needs children, your ADHD child can greatly benefit from extra attention and physical contact. Be generous with your hugs and kisses. Devote time daily to playing with your child.
