The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that many states require registered nurses to earn continuing education (CE) credits even after they have completed their degree programs. This ensures that nurses are constantly enhancing their skills and increasing their knowledge in order to give their patients proper care.
In order to make it easier for these professionals to advance their skills, Jacksonville University (JU) in Florida recently opened its doors to more than 5,000 registered nurses for participation in its free continuing education program, according to a press release. This online course was offered to healthcare professionals through Nurse.com between March 1 and June 8.
The Nursing students were able to advance their skills through a free CE course at Jacksonville University. nurses who completed the program received a nursing CE credit in networking for career advancement. Through this class, registered nurses were able to learn the skills they need to improve their job prospects or land a promotion within their current company.
Dr. Jeane Richards, the director of the school's registered nurse to bachelor's of science in nursing program, said in a statement that she feels it was necessary for JU to offer CE programs.
