Bahrain is planning to overhaul its public education system to promote critical thinking, tolerance, dialogue, problem-solving and respect for other people's opinions. Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi yesterday ordered the formation of a team including foreign experts to revamp the school curriculum, during a meeting of officials.
Dr Al Nuaimi said the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation's International Bureau of Education should be brought in to help. The organisation specialises in educational content, methods and structures and advises national education authorities and other academic bodies around the world.
Meanwhile, the Higher Education Council is to sign an agreement with Edinburgh University to help develop academic credentials. Dr Al Nuaimi yesterday received a university delegation led by quality director Dr Brian Martin and outlined plans to promote education and training.
